The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a large consignment of Indian sarees, chocolates, and a mini truck worth about Tk 6.83 crore in two separate anti-smuggling drives conducted by the Feni Battalion (4 BGB) in Feni border areas early today. Acting on a tip-off, a special patrol team from Khejuria Border Outpost (BOP) conducted a raid at around 3:00 am about 500 yards inside Bangladesh from border pillar 2181/MP under the leadership of Naib Subedar Md Abdul Malek. During the drive, the team recovered 315 Indian premium-quality sarees and one abandoned mini truck, valued at approximately Tk 67.25 lakh. Meanwhile, in another operation at around 12:50 am, a regular patrol team from Devpur BOP, led by Subedar Jamshed Alam, conducted a raid about 300 yards inside Bangladesh from border pillar 2186/8-S. The patrol seized 3,417 pieces of Indian chocolates worth about Tk 1,00,950.
Details of the Seizures
The first operation, led by Naib Subedar Md Abdul Malek, resulted in the seizure of 315 Indian premium-quality sarees and an abandoned mini truck. The total value of these seized goods was estimated at Tk 67.25 lakh. In the second operation, led by Subedar Jamshed Alam, the patrol team seized 3,417 pieces of Indian chocolates, valued at Tk 1,00,950.
