Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested two alleged drug peddlers and seized 20,000 yaba tablets during a special anti-narcotics operation in Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban district. The BGB also confiscated a CNG auto-rickshaw used for transporting the drugs, two mobile phones, and cash. A special patrol team from Chakdhala Border Outpost (BOP), acting on a tip-off, conducted the raid in Chakdhala Bazar area on Wednesday afternoon, intercepting a CNG auto-rickshaw travelling from Chakdhala to Naikhongchhari. The arrested drug peddlers, Md. Nurul Hashem, 35, and Md. Hasan Ali, 20, are from Ramu upazila of Cox's Bazar district. The operation was confirmed by Lieutenant Colonel S.M. Khairul Alam, Commanding Officer of the Cox's Bazar Battalion (BGB-34).

The operation underscores BGB's ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region. Yaba, a stimulant tablet, is a significant concern for law enforcement agencies due to its widespread use and the associated social and health issues. The seizure of such a large quantity of yaba tablets highlights the persistent challenges in curbing the drug trade in border areas. The BGB's proactive measures aim to disrupt drug supply chains and apprehend those involved in illicit activities.
