Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has rescued 122 families stranded by flash floods and landslides in the Kraikhyongpara area on the outskirts of Bandarban district town. The operation, supervised by Bandarban Sector Commander Colonel Rubayat Jamil, has been ongoing since last night despite adverse weather, waterlogging, and strong flood currents.
Rescue and Relief Efforts
The rescued families have been taken to Shaheed Mosharraf BGB School and Kraikhyongpara Government Primary School, where temporary shelters have been arranged. BGB has distributed food, safe drinking water, and emergency medicines, prioritizing women, children, elderly people, and the sick.
BGB's Role in Disaster Response
In addition to safeguarding the country's borders, BGB has continued to play an active role in protecting lives and property in remote hill districts during natural disasters. The force remains committed to carrying out rescue operations, ensuring safe shelter, and providing necessary humanitarian assistance to people affected by floods, landslides, and other emergencies.
Significance and Implications
This rescue operation underscores the critical role of BGB in disaster response, particularly in vulnerable and remote areas like Bandarban. The provision of immediate relief and shelter highlights the importance of rapid response in mitigating the impact of natural disasters on communities.
What Happens Next
BGB will continue to monitor the situation and provide further assistance as needed. The focus will remain on ensuring the safety and well-being of the affected families until the floodwaters recede and normal conditions are restored.
