In a significant humanitarian effort, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) provided free medical treatment and medicines to around 500 underprivileged individuals residing in the border regions of Panchagarh. This initiative, part of the BGB's broader humanitarian outreach program, was aimed at ensuring healthcare access for marginalized communities, especially during the monsoon season when medical services are often scarce.
Event Details
The medical camp was organized by the Panchagarh Battalion (18 BGB) at the Dhamurhat Adarsha Girls' High School ground under the Giragaon Border Outpost (BOP) in Dhamur Union of Atwari upazila. The event was graced by Colonel Mohammad Suruj Mia, the Thakurgaon Sector Commander, who attended as the chief guest.
Healthcare Support
A team of experienced physicians offered free medical consultations and treatments to approximately 450 to 500 individuals, including women, men, and children. Necessary medicines were also distributed free of charge, tailored to the patients' specific needs.
BGB's Commitment to Humanitarian Efforts
Colonel Suruj Mia emphasized that the BGB, in addition to its primary duties of safeguarding the nation's independence, sovereignty, and borders, is also dedicated to improving the living standards of border communities. This includes disaster response, relief distribution, free medical services, and educational support.

The medical camp was attended by the Civil Surgeon of Panchagarh, local public representatives, journalists, distinguished persons, and BGB officials. This event underscores the BGB's ongoing commitment to serving the community and addressing their healthcare needs.
