Bangladesh Legal Aid Directorate Collects Tk 363.89cr in Compensation for Justice Seekers

The Directorate of Bangladesh Legal Aid Services has realized Taka 363.89 crore in compensation for insolvent justice seekers from 2009 to May 2026.

The Directorate of Bangladesh Legal Aid Services has realized a total of Taka 363.89 crore in compensation for insolvent justice seekers from 2009 to May 2026. According to the directorate's monthly update, Taka 356,86,15,237 was realized through its 64 district legal aid offices, and another Taka 7,03,11,916 was realized through its two labour legal aid cells in Dhaka and Chattogram. A total of 14,87,663 people have received legal aid since the organization's inception in 2009.

Of the total beneficiaries, 12,20,044 received services through the district legal aid offices. Additionally, 2,06,703 people received legal advice by calling the national toll-free helpline number 16699, and 30,696 people received services from the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office.

The Directorate of Bangladesh Legal Aid Services operates under the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. Its mission is to provide legal assistance to those who cannot afford it, ensuring access to justice for all.

The significant realization of Taka 363.89 crore in compensation highlights the directorate's effectiveness in supporting insolvent justice seekers. This achievement underscores the importance of legal aid services in ensuring that everyone has access to justice, regardless of their financial situation.

The directorate continues to expand its reach, with services available through district offices, labour legal aid cells, and a national helpline. This comprehensive approach ensures that legal aid is accessible to a wide range of people across Bangladesh.
