Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir has emphasized that modern and adaptive policing is crucial to effectively tackle emerging security challenges. Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of the 10th batch (2024-25 session) of the Master of Applied Criminology and Police Management (MSCPM) programme at the Police Staff College Bangladesh, the IGP highlighted the importance of modern knowledge, innovative thinking, and professional competence in addressing complex threats such as cybercrime, organized crime, terrorism, financial and environmental crimes, the spread of misinformation, and the misuse of emerging technologies.
Modern Policing and Public Trust
IGP Fakir stated that the success of modern policing is measured not only by crime control and arrests but also by earning public trust, upholding the rule of law, protecting human rights, ensuring professional integrity and accountability, and delivering quality public services. He noted that Police Staff College Bangladesh plays a vital role in strengthening the professional capacity of Bangladesh Police and other government institutions through advanced police education, leadership development, and research.
Role of Research and Innovative Thinking
The IGP underscored the importance of research, evidence-based analysis, and innovative thinking for effective decision-making and practical solutions. The programme was welcomed by Director (Academic) Dr. Sarker Omar Faroque and chaired by Rector Kazi Md. Fazlul Karim, who expressed hope for the success of the 10th MSCPM batch and reaffirmed the college's commitment to becoming a center of excellence in police education, research, and professional leadership.
Diverse Participation in MSCPM Programme
The 10th batch comprises 50 participants, including members of Bangladesh Police, the Armed Forces, the medical profession, the judiciary, the National Security Intelligence (NSI), and other professional institutions.
