Gideon Levy, a prominent columnist for Israel's influential daily Haaretz, has warned that the current situation between the US, Israel, and Iran remains highly volatile and risky. In an interview with Qatar-based news outlet Al Jazeera, he commented that Israel has ultimately suffered a severe defeat in the ongoing geopolitical game.
Levy noted that within President Donald Trump's administration, there are many influential figures in the White House, State Department, and Republican Party who hold a more critical view of Israel's policies and role than Trump himself.
He cautioned that if Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu damages his relationship with Trump, Israel will face unprecedented and severe challenges, with the negative consequences of this hostility becoming evident very soon.
Levy further warned that Israel has become a significant obstacle for the US as a whole and personally for President Trump. He predicted that Washington will now view and treat Israel as a major hindrance or 'obstacle'.
