The ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran has seen heightened tensions with Iran targeting key US military bases in the Middle East. These bases, which fall under the US military's Central Command (CENTCOM), are crucial for supporting a wide range of missions from logistics to combat operations. The bases have come under repeated attacks, highlighting their strategic importance and vulnerability.

Bahrain hosts the US Navy's Fifth Fleet and US Naval Forces Central Command headquarters. Its deep-water port can accommodate the largest US military vessels, including aircraft carriers. Despite facing heavy Iranian strikes, the US Navy has maintained its presence there since 1948.

In Iraq, US troops are deployed as part of the US-led coalition to fight the Islamic State group. Bases like Erbil airport and al-Harir air base in the Kurdistan region have been targeted by Iran-backed groups. The coalition is preparing to end its mission in Iraq by the end of September.

Jordan hosts US troops at sites such as Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, which has F-16, F-15, and F-35 fighter jets, along with refuelling and reconnaissance aircraft. Recent Iranian attacks have resulted in casualties among US service members.

Kuwait has several US bases, including Camp Arifjan and Ali al-Salem Air Base, which serve as key logistical and combat hubs. Since the war began, six US service members have been killed there.

Qatar's Al Udeid Air Base, the largest US base in the Middle East, houses forward components of CENTCOM and has been repeatedly attacked by Iran. The UAE's Al Dhafra Air Base hosts the US 380th Air Expeditionary Wing and has also faced Iranian strikes.

Saudi Arabia, while not hosting American bases, allows US troops at its Prince Sultan Air Base. Despite attacks, there is no indication that Gulf states will reduce the US military presence, though the US may reconsider its regional posture.
