South Korean Envoy Meets Bangladesh PM's Adviser to Discuss Defence Cooperation

In a significant move to bolster bilateral defence relations, South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Kim Ji-Joon paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister's Defence Adviser Brig Gen (retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam at the Armed Forces Division headquarters in Dhaka Cantonment. The meeting, which focused on strengthening defence ties, saw both sides expressing optimism about future collaboration.

Longstanding Bilateral Relations

During the meeting, the defence adviser and the ambassador exchanged greetings and recalled the longstanding friendly and excellent bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the Republic of Korea. This visit underscores the commitment of both nations to further deepen their defence cooperation.

Areas of Cooperation

The discussions centered on potential areas of cooperation to support the ongoing modernization and capability enhancement of Bangladesh Armed Forces. Key topics included collaboration in military equipment, defence technology transfer, shipbuilding, joint training, and advanced military education. Both sides expressed positive attitudes towards expanding cooperation in these fields.
