A powerful earthquake struck Mindanao, Philippines, resulting in at least 15 deaths and 129 injuries, according to the Philippine Civil Defense Office. The earthquake, which had a magnitude of 7.8, occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers. Tsunami warnings have been issued.
The Philippine Civil Defense Office reported that 12 of the fatalities occurred in the SOCCSKSARGEN region. At least 129 people were injured in the earthquake. The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) confirmed the magnitude and depth of the earthquake.
Police Master Sergeant Robert Dago of General Santos City Police reported significant structural damage, including collapsed buildings and houses. The earthquake was felt as far as Indonesia, where tsunami warnings were also issued.
