The National Sports Council (NSC) has dissolved the existing ad-hoc committees of 27 national sports federations and associations, directing them to hold elections within the next three months. The decision comes as these committees failed to conduct elections and hand over authority to elected committees within the stipulated period.

The 27 affected federations include the Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation, Bangladesh Archery Federation, Bangladesh Washu Federation, Bangladesh Athletics Federation, and others such as the Bangladesh Amateur Boxing Federation, Bangladesh Amateur Wrestling Federation, and the Bangladesh Chess Federation.

According to the NSC, the dissolution was necessary due to the ad-hoc committees' failure to fulfill their responsibilities. The order is subject to the approval of the competent authority, and the newly-constituted ad-hoc committees will become effective from the date of issuance of the order.

This move is expected to bring fresh leadership and renewed focus on the development and governance of sports in Bangladesh. The timely conduct of elections is crucial for the smooth functioning and progress of these sports federations.
