The 9th National Men's Baseball Championship is set to begin tomorrow (Friday) at the Bangladesh Ansar Academy in Safipur, Gazipur. The three-day tournament, organized by the Bangladesh Baseball-Softball Association (BBSA), aims to promote the expansion of baseball in Bangladesh, develop talented players, and strengthen competitive baseball at the national level.

Inauguration and Participants

Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud, Director General of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party, is expected to inaugurate the meet as the chief guest. A total of 14 teams will participate in this year's championship, representing districts, forces teams, and clubs from across the country.

Tournament Format and Prizes

The championship will be held under a single-elimination knockout format. The champion and runner-up teams from the 8th National Men's Baseball Championship have been awarded the No. one and No. two seeds respectively and received byes in the opening round. The remaining teams' positions in the tournament bracket were determined through an open draw conducted by the organizers.

Prizes for the championship include Taka 50,000 for the champions, Taka 25,000 for the runners-up, Taka 15,000 for the third place finishers, and Taka 10,000 for the fourth place finishers.

Objectives and Expectations

The BBSA believes that the Championship will play a significant role in improving the standard of baseball in the country, discovering new talent, and developing players capable of competing at the international level. Organizers hope the tournament will help strengthen the foundation for Bangladesh's future success on the international stage by creating a larger pool of skilled and competitive players.
