The Sharadiya Durga Puja, a significant religious festival of the Bengali Hindu community, concludes today on Vijaya Dashami with grand rituals including Anjali, Arati, and Puja-Archana. The festival, which began last Sunday, will end with the Dashami Bihita Puja in the morning followed by Darpon Bisarjan. In Dhaka, the Dashami Puja at Dhakeshwari National Temple will start at 9:57 AM, followed by a voluntary blood donation program at noon. The Bijoya procession will commence at 3 PM, with idols from various pandals brought to Dhakeshwari Temple before immersion in the Buriganga River at Wye Ghat by evening.
Key Events and Traditions
Today, many temples will host the Dashami Bihita Puja and Darpon Bisarjan, followed by Sindur Khela. Married women will offer sindur to the goddess and apply it on each other's foreheads and chins. Temples such as Siddheshwari, Banani, and Farmgate's Krishibid Institute will organize Sindur Khela. On Maha Navami, the ninth day, devotees offered Anjali to the goddess, seeking fulfillment of their wishes. The Banani Puja Mandap saw a large gathering of devotees, with the Anjali ceremony starting at 12:15 PM. The mandap, known for its grand setup and eco-friendly decorations, has been attracting thousands of visitors daily.
