Life is a series of decisions, big and small. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught a simple yet powerful dua to seek guidance and firmness in decisions: 'Allahumma hadini wa saddidni' (O Allah, guide me and make me steadfast). This dua, shared by Hazrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (RA), helped him navigate complex decisions throughout his life.
The Prophet (PBUH) explained the dua with an analogy: 'When you pray for 'huda' (guidance), think of the straightforward path shown by Allah. When you pray for'sadad' (steadfastness), think of an arrow shot from a bow, going straight to its target without deviation.'
There is no specific number of times to recite this dua. It can be recited silently or aloud whenever facing a decision. Special times for recitation include the last third of the night, between Azan and Iqamah, after Fard prayers, and during Sujud.
