The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment proposed renaming the Keraniganj Technical Training Center in Dhaka after former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. However, Prime Minister Tareq Rahman did not approve the proposal. Instead, he instructed that if a new name is to be given, a new institution should be established. This decision is seen as a move against the trend of renaming institutions for political reasons.

Keraniganj Technical Training Center was established in 2006 in Hazratpur, Keraniganj, Dhaka. It is operated under the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET).

Sources from the Prime Minister's Office revealed that the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare sent the proposal before Eid-ul-Adha. The Prime Minister rejected the proposal and emphasized the need to create a new institution for any new naming.
