Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has proposed an alternative national budget of 8.39 trillion BDT for the fiscal year 2026-27. The budget, presented at an event titled 'People-oriented Budget 2026-27 Proposal' in Moghbazar, Dhaka, emphasizes public administration, debt repayment, education, and technology. Saiful Alam Khan (Milon), a member of Jamaat's central executive council and MP from Dhaka-12, presented the budget.
The proposed budget allocates 24.09% (2.02 trillion BDT) to public administration, 15.19% (1.27 trillion BDT) to debt repayment, and 14.96% (1.25 trillion BDT) to education and technology. Additionally, it allocates 7.78% (653.4 billion BDT) to transport and communication, 6.15% (516.7 billion BDT) to agriculture, and 5.74% (481.5 billion BDT) to social security and welfare.
Other allocations include 5.39% (452.4 billion BDT) to health, 5.39% (452.2 billion BDT) to local government and rural development, 5.18% (434.6 billion BDT) to defense, 4.10% (344.5 billion BDT) to law and order, and 2.97% (249.5 billion BDT) to fuel and electricity. Smaller allocations are made to recreation, culture, and religion (0.79%), industry and economic services (0.62%), and housing (0.60%).
