Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmad addressed an old controversy in parliament regarding him taking a ride in a car owned by businessman S Alam. Jamaat-e-Islami MP Najibur Rahman raised the issue, accusing the minister of 'taking something'. In response, Salahuddin Ahmad clarified that he did not take a ride in any individual's car and explained the circumstances under which he took a ride in a car during a large gathering in Cox's Bazar.
The Home Minister stated that upon returning from abroad, a large crowd gathered at the airport in Cox's Bazar to welcome him. Due to the crowd, no personal vehicles could enter the airport. He explained that he took a ride in a microbus provided by his supporters, which he later learned was an old vehicle not owned by any individual.
Salahuddin Ahmad emphasized that the issue was resolved long ago and requested the Speaker to remove the controversial remarks from the parliamentary record. The Speaker agreed to review the matter and remove any unparliamentary language as per the rules.
Additionally, Jamaat-e-Islami MP Najibur Rahman disputed the Home Minister's statement about Islamic Bank providing funds to Jamaat-e-Islami, calling it 'false' and requesting its removal from the parliamentary record. The Speaker noted that the issue was from the previous day and could not be addressed under a Point of Order, but suggested that a notice could be given if necessary.
