Hasnat Abdullah, a leader of the National Citizen Party (NCP) and a member of parliament for the Cumilla-4 (Devidwar) constituency, has denied receiving any funds personally from the district council. He clarified that the budget allocated for the upazila was not given to him individually but to the upazila itself.

Cumilla District Council administrator Mo. Mostak Mia had alleged that NCP spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan and NCP's southern region chief organizer Hasnat Abdullah had received funds from the council during the interim government. Hasnat Abdullah responded to these allegations, stating that the funds were allocated for the upazila's development and not for personal use.

Hasnat Abdullah emphasized that the funds were part of a special allocation from the Local Government Division, disbursed through the Annual Development Programme (ADP) projects. He criticized the administrator's statement, suggesting it implied personal misappropriation of funds, which he denied.
