23 Awami League Leaders Detained in Dhanmondi Ahead of Dhaka Rally

Police detained 23 leaders and activists of the Awami League and its youth wing in Dhaka's Dhanmondi area.

Police detained 23 leaders and activists of the Awami League and its youth wing in Dhaka's Dhanmondi area while they were preparing for a sudden rally. Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Additional Deputy Commissioner Jisanul Haque said they were arrested after Friday prayers at Dhanmondi 32, Takwa Mosque, and Sobhanbagh Mosque areas.

Haque mentioned that the detained individuals included the Upazila Youth League president and various district and Upazila leaders and activists. He said they were preparing for a large-scale sudden rally. Security measures have been tightened in the area to prevent any untoward activities by the banned organization.

Haque also said there was a plan to take an oath to bring Sheikh Hasina back to the country through this rally.
