Six more children have died from suspected measles in Bangladesh, bringing the total number of deaths from suspected measles since March 15 to 721. The Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported that 613 new suspected cases were recorded in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of suspected cases to 122,763. During the same period, 78 confirmed cases were recorded, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 15,272.
All six deaths occurred at different hospitals in Dhaka district. A total of 105,298 suspected measles patients were admitted to hospitals from March 15 to July 25, with 101,535 recovering and being discharged. No deaths from confirmed measles were reported in the last 24 hours, but since March 15, 95 deaths from confirmed measles have been recorded.
The ongoing measles outbreak poses a significant health challenge in Bangladesh. The high number of suspected cases and deaths highlights the need for continued vigilance and effective public health measures to control the spread of the disease and protect vulnerable populations.
