Swapon Advocates Student Sports Participation for Enhanced Mental Development

Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon emphasized the importance of sports and extracurricular activities for students' mental and creative development.

In a ceremony at the Gournadi Upazila Parishad Auditorium, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon urged students to engage in sports and extracurricular activities to foster mental growth and creative potential. He stressed the need for a friendly approach towards students instead of harsh discipline, aiming to nurture a confident and creative generation.

The minister highlighted that sports help children develop creative thinking, leadership skills, and moral character. He noted that regular participation in sports contributes to physical well-being, enhances self-confidence, discipline, and problem-solving abilities.

Swapon addressed teachers and parents, emphasizing that the future of the next generation depends on the competence and dedication of teachers. He urged a shift away from strict discipline, advocating for a more nurturing approach to raising children.

Under the 'One Student, One Tree' programme, the minister distributed five tree saplings and sports equipment to the heads of 131 primary schools, 28 secondary schools, and 14 madrasa institutions in Gournadi Upazila. The event was chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Ibrahim, with Conservator of Forests of the Barishal Coastal Circle Dr. Molla in attendance.
