The Directorate of Technical Education has expressed concern over lower-than-expected enrollment in the HSC (Vocational) programme at government Technical School and Colleges. To address this issue, the directorate has instructed institutions to implement seven specific measures aimed at boosting student admissions. These measures include intensified promotional campaigns, motivational meetings, extensive publicity, online promotions, ensuring enrollment of SSC (Vocational) pass students, assigning teachers enrollment responsibilities, and regular reporting of enrollment data.
Key Measures for Enrollment Boost
The directorate's letter outlines several key strategies to enhance enrollment. These include conducting promotional and awareness campaigns among secondary school students, organizing motivational meetings involving guardians, students, local public representatives, and distinguished persons, and carrying out extensive publicity highlighting the institutions’ various trades, modern laboratories, employment opportunities, and prospects for higher education.
Utilizing Modern Channels
In addition to traditional methods, the directorate has emphasized the importance of promoting the courses widely through online platforms, including social media, cable television, local media, banners, and leaflets. This approach aims to reach a broader audience and highlight the benefits of vocational education.
Regular Monitoring and Reporting
Principals have been instructed to ensure the enrollment of students who have passed SSC (Vocational) from their respective institutions into HSC (Vocational) courses. Additionally, each teacher will be assigned responsibility for enrolling a specified number of students. The first report on overall enrollment progress and activities undertaken must be submitted to the Directorate by August 20, with final enrollment data due by September 15.
