The Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board has directed all the madrasas in the country to form football teams and make necessary preparations for the 'Prime Minister's Gold Cup Football Tournament-2026', which will begin on August 9. According to a notification issued today, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will inaugurate the tournament at Chattogram Stadium on August 9, with simultaneous starts across the country.

Team Formation and Preparations

Every educational institution under the board has been asked to organize class-based inter-class football competitions to select skilled players. Madrasas have been instructed to form separate boys and girls football teams at Dakhil (Class VI-X) and Alim (1st and 2nd year) levels. The teams must practice regularly under the supervision of an experienced teacher or trainer.

Objectives and Participation

The notification emphasizes that this initiative will help develop discipline, leadership, and team spirit among students through sports. The Madrasa Education Board has requested all heads of institutions to involve local public representatives, administration, sports enthusiasts, and education enthusiasts in the successful implementation of the tournament. Information about the football teams must be sent to the board by July 30 via email.
