Mirza Fakhrul Praises Proposed FY 2026-27 Budget for Production, Investment, and Business

Local Government Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has described the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 as production, investment, and business-friendly.

Local Government Minister and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has described the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 as production, investment, and business-friendly. He stated that the budget was formulated considering the welfare of all classes of people.

Mirza Fakhrul mentioned, 'This budget is primarily production-friendly, investment-friendly, and business-friendly. The exemptions and rebates provided in this budget have never been seen before. As a result, the economy will become active very quickly, and we hope that Bangladesh's economy will recover.'

Highlighting the budget's focus on rural and agricultural economy development, Mirza Fakhrul praised the steps taken, such as providing Tk 2,500 to each farmer through farmer cards and arranging monthly allowances for mosques and other places of worship. He also mentioned the emphasis on increasing irrigation facilities through canal excavation, water conservation, and fish farming.

Regarding the protection of domestic industries, Mirza Fakhrul said, 'Unprecedented incentives and tax benefits have been provided for those who invest in domestic production. Taxes have been imposed on imports to protect domestically produced goods.'

He viewed the initiatives for easy loan distribution in the SME sector, expatriate cards, and job creation in high-tech parks positively. Mirza Fakhrul also expressed hope for significant changes in the education and health sectors due to the increased allocation of GDP to these sectors.

On revenue collection, Mirza Fakhrul said, 'Harassment in tax payment has been stopped. Customs will be fully automated, and a people-friendly tax administration will be established to increase taxpayers. Duty-free raw material import facilities will be provided to all export-potential sectors under customs bond.'

Regarding inflation control measures in the budget, Mirza Fakhrul said, 'Inflation will naturally decrease with increased production. This budget will undoubtedly bring a revolutionary change to Bangladesh's economy.'
