Prime Minister Tareq Rahman announced that individuals who bring foreign investment into the country will receive a 1.5% incentive on the investment amount. He made this announcement in response to a question in the national parliament on Wednesday. The session was chaired by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that the registration process for imports and exports is being provided online by the Chief Controller of Imports and Exports to facilitate quicker processing.
Rahman emphasized that the government is taking various steps to simplify the investment process and create a more investment-friendly environment. He noted that the export policy has been updated and the import policy order for 2026-29 is being updated to make it easier for foreign investors to enter the market.
The Prime Minister reassured that the positive steps taken by the current government will take some time to yield results, as the economy cannot be fixed overnight. He mentioned that Bangladesh Bank has established a fund of 60,000 crore taka to provide credit support at 9% interest to industries facing various problems but with genuine credibility.
