In a significant move towards rapid industrial development, the Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA), Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, announced that the first factory in the China Economic and Industrial Zone (CEIZ) under construction in Anwara upazila, Chattogram, is expected to commence production within the next 18 months. This announcement came during the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Bangladesh-China Economic Zone in the Belchura area of Anwara.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has set a challenge for the developer company to launch the first factory within 18 months, rather than the initially estimated three to five years. In response to this challenge, the chairman of the Chinese developer company has assured that production will indeed start within the 18-month timeframe.

During the ceremony, Ashik Chowdhury, who also serves as the Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), emphasized the importance of foreign investment and the positive impact it will have on the region. He urged comprehensive support from Chinese investors, stating that they are esteemed guests whose investments will yield profits and create employment opportunities for thousands of people in the country.

The Prime Minister also stressed the need for local public representatives and residents to support the investors, encouraging collaborative efforts to address any challenges. Ashik Chowdhury reiterated that the nation's interests must take precedence and called upon everyone to assist in attracting foreign investment, highlighting that investment is crucial for the country's advancement.
