The proposed budget for 2026-27 includes multiple special funds and allocations for sectors like social security, health, entrepreneurship, climate risk management, blue economy, renewable energy, and creative economy. The highest allocation of Tk 2,000 crore is for the health risk management fund. This information was announced in the budget presented in the national parliament on Thursday (June 11).
According to the budget proposal, Tk 400 crore has been allocated for 'startup capital' in the information and communication technology sector, women's development, women entrepreneurs, and young entrepreneurs. Additionally, Tk 100 crore each has been allocated for the blue economy resource extraction research fund and the integrated health-science research fund.
An allocation of Tk 2,000 crore has been proposed for the 'health risk management fund' to handle emergency situations and potential crises in the health sector. Furthermore, Tk 100 crore has been allocated for the climate change risk management fund and the renewable energy development fund.
As part of expanding economic activities, Tk 2,000 crore has been allocated for financial assistance to small and medium industries, and Tk 17,000 crore for working capital loans. Simultaneously, Tk 300 crore has been allocated for the 'creative economy' to develop the country's creative industries and culture-based economic activities.
On the other hand, significant food grain resources have been allocated for various ministries and programs under the food assistance and social security program. The Women and Children Affairs Ministry's 'WB' program has been allocated 3 lakh 75 thousand 500 metric tons, the Chittagong Hill Tracts Ministry 80 thousand metric tons, and the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry's various programs have been allocated a total of 5 lakh 12 thousand metric tons of food grains.
Additionally, the Fisheries and Livestock Ministry's 'DGF' program has been allocated 1 lakh 14 thousand metric tons, and the Land Ministry's 'KABIKHA' program has been allocated 16 thousand metric tons of food grains. The government says that these allocations and funds will strengthen social security programs and support entrepreneurship creation, research, climate resilience, renewable energy, and the development of new economic sectors.
