Islami Bank's 'Socheton Grahok Forum' held a protest on Thursday demanding the resignation of the new chairman, Khurshid Alam, along with other demands. The protest, which included a one-hour pen-down strike from 10 AM to 11 AM, was supported by some bank officials and employees, disrupting services at many branches. Customers were unable to enter the bank during the protest. The acting Managing Director (MD) of the bank, Altaf Hussain, stated that no directive was given for the pen-down strike and that action would be taken against any official not providing customer service. The forum's convener, Nur Nabi Manik, claimed that many bank officials and employees participated in the strike in solidarity with the forum's demands. The forum also demanded the reinstatement of Omar Farooq Khan as MD, removal of individuals involved in looting from the bank's board, cancellation of section 18(k) of the Bank Resolution Act, sale of S Alam's properties to recover looted money, prevention of S Alam's return to any bank, and bringing all bank looters to justice.
