Government Raises Monthly Allowance for Titled Freedom Fighters by Tk 5,000

Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury announced a Tk 5,000 increase in monthly allowance for titled freedom fighters in the 2026-27 budget.

The government is increasing the monthly honorarium allowance for titled freedom fighter families by Tk 5,000. Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury proposed this increase in the 2026-27 budget presented to the Jatiya Sangsad on Thursday.

The new allowances will be Tk 40,000 for Bir Shreshtho families, Tk 30,000 for Bir Uttam families, and Tk 25,000 for Bir Bikrom and Bir Protik families. The monthly honorarium for general freedom fighters will remain unchanged at Tk 20,000.

Other benefits such as festival allowances, Bangla New Year allowances, medical services, and funeral grants will continue as before. The government will also construct 4,730 Bir Nibash houses for titled freedom fighters next fiscal year.

The monthly allowance for families of martyrs from the July uprising will remain Tk 20,000. Injured individuals in categories A, B, and C will continue to receive Tk 20,000, Tk 15,000, and Tk 10,000 respectively. The number of allowance recipients from the July uprising will increase by 1,857 to a total of 16,513.
