The Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BAJU) has reduced the price of gold by Tk 5,482 per bhori in the local market, aligning with the global market trend. The new price is effective from 10 AM today. This reduction follows a previous cut of Tk 3,266 per bhori on June 2, bringing the total reduction to Tk 8,748 per bhori since Eid. The new prices for 22-carat, 21-carat, 18-carat, and traditional gold are Tk 2,29,373, Tk 2,18,933, Tk 1,87,674, and Tk 1,52,857 per bhori, respectively. Silver prices have also been reduced, with 22-carat silver now priced at Tk 5,249 per bhori.

Global Market Influence

The reduction in gold prices is influenced by the global market, where gold prices have decreased significantly. Despite a 70% increase in gold prices in 2025, the current global price per ounce is $4,328, down from over $5,000 at the beginning of the year. The recent conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States has not increased gold prices; instead, they have fallen by $222 per ounce in the last 30 days, with a $149 drop just yesterday.
