Fresh LPG, a part of Meghna Group of Industries (MGI), is expanding its production capacity and supply chain to meet the increasing demand for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Bangladesh. The company has increased its production capacity from 6,000 metric tons in 2019 to 20,000 metric tons currently. Its supply chain includes two LPG ships, four filling plants, a plant capable of producing one lakh cylinders per month, 30 road tankers, and 10 distribution centers.

Abu Sayeed Raja, Chief Marketing Officer of Fresh LPG, stated that the company is working on a long-term plan to ensure the availability of clean and green energy across the country. Fresh LPG currently operates through a network of over 350 distributors and 20,000 retail sellers, serving lakhs of customers. The company provides significant subsidies on cylinder sales to accelerate the transition to green fuel.

In the next three years, Fresh LPG plans to invest in new terminals, add two more LPG ships, and enhance technology and logistics. The company is also focusing on ensuring timely delivery of cylinders to remote areas and maintaining the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC)-set retail prices. Fresh LPG uses European technology-based carousel filling systems and conducts rigorous safety tests on each cylinder before distribution.

Raja emphasized the need for policy and tariff reforms to support the sustainable development of the LPG sector. He suggested reducing the customs duty on cylinder raw materials from 27.85% to 5% and withdrawing VAT and AIT to lower production costs and make LPG more affordable for the general public.
