The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) witnessed a substantial rise in trading volume, reaching over Tk 1529 crore, marking the highest trading volume in nearly 22 months. This surge follows the recent leadership change in the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), where Masud Khan was appointed as the new chairman. The DSE's key index, DSE X, also increased by 41 points, closing at 5516 points, its highest in three months.

Crown Cement saw the highest price increase, with its share price rising by 10%, or Tk 5.20, to Tk 57. This is attributed to Masud Khan's previous role as the Group CEO of Crown Cement. Other companies where Masud Khan held significant positions, such as Unilever Consumer Care, British American Tobacco, and Grameenphone, also saw their share prices increase.

The general insurance sector led in sector-based trading, with a combined transaction volume of Tk 240 crore, representing about 16% of the total DSE trading volume. The engineering sector followed with Tk 212 crore in transactions, accounting for approximately 14% of the total trading volume.
