The government has increased the excise duty threshold for bank deposits from Tk 3 lakh to Tk 4 lakh annually. This change aims to provide relief to small depositors. If a bank account balance exceeds Tk 4 lakh at any point in 2026, excise duty will be deducted once a year, typically in December.
