Police arrested two suspected drug dealers, including a woman, with 2,400 banned Tapentadol tablets in an anti-drug operation in Taluk Habu area of Gangachara upazila of Rangpur district. The arrestees, Sumon Mia and Luna Akhter of Sadar upazila of Lalmonirhat district, were apprehended during a drive conducted by Gangachara Model Police Station under the instructions of Police Superintendent Mohammad Mozammel Haque. The operation, carried out at 11:30 pm on Saturday, also resulted in the seizure of a motorcycle and two mobile phones. The suspects were produced in a Rangpur court, which sent them to jail this afternoon.
Tapentadol, a potent opioid analgesic, is banned in Bangladesh due to its high potential for abuse and addiction. The drug is often smuggled into the country and sold illicitly, posing a significant threat to public health.
