Rajshahi Metropolitan Jubodal has come forward to support the family of Afsar Ali and his son Ziarul, who tragically lost their lives when a boat capsized in the Padma River. On the instructions of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the organization has taken responsibility for the education of Jahera Begum's two fatherless grandchildren and provided one month's worth of food supplies to the grieving family.
Tragic Incident
The incident occurred when a boat carrying eight people capsized in the middle of the Padma River in the Barokuthi area. Six passengers were rescued, but Afsar Ali and his son Ziarul were swept away by the strong current. The boat was returning from cutting Jhau trees in the Padma char Majardia area when it lost balance due to strong waves and sank.
Jubodal's Support
In response to the tragedy, Rajshahi Metropolitan Jubodal distributed life jackets among the boatmen at the Barokuthi Ghat to prevent future incidents. Member Secretary Mohammad Rafiqul Islam Robi oversaw the distribution. The organization's support extends beyond immediate relief, with ongoing assistance planned for the affected family.
Community Reaction
Jahera Begum, who lost her husband and son in the incident, expressed deep gratitude for Jubodal's support. Boatmen in the area, including Shariful, appreciated the provision of life jackets, recognizing the importance of safety measures in their daily operations. The community remains in mourning, hoping to avoid similar tragedies in the future.
