In a significant drug bust operation, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted two separate raids in Gaibandha and arrested three individuals allegedly involved in drug trafficking. The RAB seized a total of 213 bottles of ESKuf syrup, a phensedyl-like substance, along with two motorcycles. The arrests took place in different locations within Gaibandha district.

The first arrest occurred in Durgapur village under Sadar police station, where Shipul Chandra Mahanta, 33, and Md Aminul Islam, 38, were apprehended with 65 bottles of ESKuf syrup and a motorcycle at 5:55 pm. The second raid led to the arrest of Md Mahabub Alam alias Bhutto, 50, in front of Nakaihat Success Model School under Gobindaganj police station. He was found with 148 bottles of ESKuf syrup and a motorcycle at 7:45 pm.

Following the raids, the RAB filed two separate cases and handed over the arrested individuals, along with the seized drugs, to the respective police stations for further legal proceedings. The operation highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking in the region.

ESKuf syrup, similar to phensedyl, is often abused for its sedative effects. The substance is commonly used in cough syrups but is frequently misused due to its psychoactive properties. The recent seizure and arrests indicate a continued vigilance by authorities to curb the illegal distribution and use of such substances.
