Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu has stressed that merely planting trees is not enough; they must be cared for until they grow. He made this point while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 15-day Rajshahi Divisional Tree Fair at Nazrul Village in Rajshahi city. Minu emphasized that protecting trees is more challenging than planting them and urged everyone to plant at least one tree and ensure its care.

Fair Highlights Importance of Tree Care

This year's Rajshahi Divisional Tree Fair, themed 'Let's decorate the country by planting trees, Bangladesh first,' aims to bring back the lost greenery. Minu expressed hope that the government's efforts, combined with public participation, will achieve this goal. He recalled the legacy of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, who initiated extensive tree plantation programs.

Commitment to Green Rajshahi

Minu highlighted Rajshahi's potential to become a green city again, drawing from his experience as the Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation when extensive tree plantation made the city green. He stressed the importance of planting trees in vacant spaces within the city. The fair, featuring 52 stalls and a colorful rally, underscores the community's commitment to environmental protection through tree plantation.
