Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today reaffirmed the government's commitment to promoting the economic empowerment of persons with disabilities and their integration into mainstream society. The premier underscored this commitment by handing over appointment letters to three individuals with disabilities at his Cabinet Division office at the Bangladesh Secretariat. The recipients, Ayesha Akter, Neela Khatun, and Md Hasmat Ali, expressed joy and described the event as the beginning of new professional journeys and aspirations.
Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shiplu stated that the appointments aim to help persons with disabilities become self-reliant through employment and integrate them into mainstream society. Ayesha Akter from Gaibandha, who writes with her feet, has been appointed as a class supervisor at BIAM Laboratory School and College. Neela Khatun, also from Sirajganj and writing with her feet, has been appointed as a teacher at the National Foundation for the Development of the Disabled in Mirpur, Dhaka. Md Hasmat Ali, who is visually impaired, has been appointed as a Union Social Worker under the Department of Social Services.
Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Adviser Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Farzana Sharmin Putul, Social Welfare Secretary Dr Mohammad Abu Yusuf, Managing Director of the National Foundation for Development of the Disabled Persons (NFDD) Md Tarikul Alam, and Director General of the Department of Social Services Shah Mohammad Mahbub were present at the ceremony. Founder of the Bangladesh Protibondhi Kalyan Somity Abdus Sattar Dulal thanked the Prime Minister for providing employment opportunities to the three persons with disabilities.
This initiative reflects the government's ongoing efforts to support and empower individuals with disabilities, ensuring they have equal opportunities to contribute to society and achieve economic independence.
