A schoolgirl from Gaibandha, who was abducted after rejecting her kidnapper's advances, has been rescued by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Narayanganj. The main abductor, Shishir Ahmed Chanchal, 22, was arrested in the Dupatara Bazar area under Araihazar police station. The victim, an SSC examinee, was kidnapped on May 17, 2026, while returning home from her exams. The RAB conducted a joint operation between RAB-13's Gaibandha Camp and RAB-11's Narayanganj Camp, leading to the arrest and rescue. Both the victim and the accused have been handed over to Sundarganj police station for further legal proceedings.

The victim's father filed a kidnapping case at Sundarganj police station in Gaibandha district on May 19, 2026, after his daughter was abducted. According to the case statement, the victim had previously rejected the advances of Shishir Ahmed Chanchal, who used to tease her with love proposals while she was traveling to school. When the victim's family informed the accused's parents about the matter, they were reportedly angry.

On May 17, 2026, the accused, along with his associates, kidnapped the victim in an auto rickshaw and took her to the Mantola Jorgach area of nearby Kurigram district. The swift action by the RAB has resulted in the safe recovery of the victim and the apprehension of the main culprit.

Shishir Ahmed Chanchal, the son of Shahidul Islam of Mantola Jorgach area under Chilmari police station of Kurigram district, was arrested following a tip-off. The operation was conducted at 7.10 pm on Wednesday, highlighting the effectiveness of joint efforts between different RAB units.

The incident underscores the importance of prompt action by law enforcement agencies in addressing kidnapping cases. The RAB's successful operation has brought relief to the victim's family and sent a strong message against such criminal activities.
