A court in Chuadanga has sentenced a man to death for raping and killing a schoolgirl in December 2023. The court also fined the convict, Abul Hossain alias Fatik, Taka 2 lakh. District and Sessions Judge Md. Moktagir Alam delivered the verdict in the presence of the convict. Public prosecutor MM Shahjahan Mukul confirmed the verdict. According to the prosecution, the girl was taken into a cornfield and killed after being raped by the convict on December 21, 2023. The police filed a charge sheet against Abul Hossain after the investigation, and he later gave a confessional statement under Section 164 in the court. The court announced the verdict after taking the testimonies of 31 witnesses.

Details of the Crime

On December 21, 2023, the schoolgirl went to a field to gather vegetables with some children. Abul Hossain, also known as Fatik, took the girl into a cornfield where he raped and subsequently killed her. Following the investigation, the police filed a charge sheet against him in court.

Legal Proceedings

Abul Hossain gave a confessional statement under Section 164 in the court. The case was heard in the Chuadanga Women and Children's Court, where public prosecutor MM Shahjahan Mukul presented the testimonies of 31 witnesses. Based on this evidence, the court delivered the death sentence and imposed a fine of Taka 2 lakh on the convict.
