Charges Filed Against Sheikh Hasina and 10 Others for Teknaf's Ekramul Haque Killing

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has filed formal charges against 11 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, for crimes against humanity related to the killing of Teknaf ward Councillor Ekramul Haque.

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has filed formal charges against 11 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, for crimes against humanity related to the killing of Teknaf ward Councillor Ekramul Haque. The prosecution submitted the charges to the ICT registrar, and Chief Prosecutor Md Aminul Islam confirmed that ICT-2 has taken the charges into cognizance.

Background of the Case

Ekramul Haque, the former councillor of ward-3 of Teknaf municipality, was killed in a so-called gunfight with RAB-7 on May 26, 2018. The case has drawn significant attention, leading to the formal charges being filed against prominent political figures.

Accused Individuals

Apart from Sheikh Hasina, the other accused individuals include Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Abdur Rahman Bodi, and Benazir Ahmed. The charges are a significant development in the ongoing legal proceedings related to the incident.
