Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman inaugurated the 'Bangladesh Army Tree Plantation Campaign-2026' today by planting a sapling at Nirjhar Residential Area in Dhaka Cantonment. The Army Chief emphasized the importance of tree plantation in protecting the environment, maintaining ecological balance, and building a greener and more sustainable Bangladesh, according to a press release from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate. The campaign, themed "Brikkhoropone Sajai Desh, Sobar Age Bangladesh (Let's decorate the country through tree plantation, Bangladesh first)", is being observed simultaneously at all cantonments, Defence Officers Housing Scheme (DOHS) areas, and Jalsiri Housing Project sites across the country. Various types of trees, including fruit-bearing, timber, medicinal, and ornamental plants, will be planted at suitable locations. The campaign will continue until the last week of September 2026.
