The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has accused Iran of attacking two of its tankers in the Strait of Hormuz with missiles, resulting in the death of one crew member and wounding eight others. The attack occurred within Omani territorial waters, according to the Emirati Ministry of Defence. The incident marks a significant escalation in the ongoing hostilities between the United States and Iran.

The targeted tankers, Mombasa and Al Bahiyah, were struck while transiting the southern shipping lane of the Strait of Hormuz. The attack resulted in fires on board both vessels, causing damage that has since been brought under control. The deceased crew member was an Indian national, and among the wounded, four sustained serious injuries.

The Emirati Ministry of Defence strongly condemned the attack, describing it as a grave violation and a clear breach of international law that threatens regional security and stability. The Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route through which a significant portion of the world's oil passes, remains a point of contention between the United States and Iran.

This attack follows a series of missile and drone strikes from Iran reported by the UAE, a top US ally in the region. The recent escalation comes amid heightened tensions following fresh US strikes against Tehran. The UAE's condemnation underscores the growing instability in the region and the urgent need for de-escalation.
