Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman and Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar exchanged greetings on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Manila. The brief interaction took place as foreign ministers and senior representatives from participating countries gathered in the Philippine capital for the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
During the forum, Khalilur held a series of high-level bilateral engagements with his counterparts from the United States, Russia, China, and Pakistan. These meetings focused on issues of mutual interest, including economic cooperation, trade and investment opportunities, as well as matters of shared concern on the global stage.
Khalilur is leading the Bangladesh delegation to the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and events marking the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia. The engagements in Manila are part of Bangladesh’s continued diplomatic efforts to deepen relations and expand cooperation with key regional and international partners.
The ASEAN Regional Forum, established in 1994, is a platform for dialogue and consultation on political and security issues of common interest and concern. This year’s meeting is particularly significant as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia.
Bangladesh’s participation in the ARF underscores its commitment to regional stability and cooperation. The country has been an active member of the forum, engaging in discussions on various security and political issues affecting the region.
