The secretary general of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, has condemned recent Iranian attacks on Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan, labeling the strikes on civilian infrastructure as 'war crimes'. In a statement, Albudaiwi said Iran's actions constitute a highly dangerous escalation, a grave violation of international law and the United Nations (UN) Charter.
International Condemnation
Albudaiwi emphasized that the deliberate targeting of infrastructure and civilian facilities by Iran requires international accountability and prosecution. He called for a unified response from the international community to address this violation of international norms.
Regional Tensions
The attacks have heightened tensions in the region, prompting calls for de-escalation and adherence to international law. The GCC, which comprises Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, has historically sought to maintain stability in the Gulf.
