Iran has congratulated Spain on its victory in the World Cup, stating that it brought joy to people worldwide who oppose the United States and Israel. The Spanish national team gained support on social media due to the Spanish government's condemnation of Israel's actions in Gaza and Madrid's criticism of the war in Iran. Israeli politicians and football fans, on the other hand, rallied for Argentina, whose President Javier Milei has been a vocal supporter of Israel's policies.

Iran's top negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, praised the Spanish team's defense of the Palestinian people and Spain's support for Iran, describing these as characteristics of an 'intelligent and respectful nation.' He added that the victory not only made the Spanish people happy but also resonated with many 'free and independent and justice-loving nations of the world.'

Esmaeil Baqaei, a foreign ministry spokesman, highlighted the valuable behavior of the Spanish national team and Spain's stance against aggression, genocide, and oppression in recent months. The Spanish government's strong opposition to Israel's actions and its support for Iran have significantly influenced global perceptions of the team.

The political undertones of the World Cup are evident, with teams and nations aligning based on geopolitical stances. Spain's victory has been celebrated not just for its athletic achievement but also for its symbolic resistance against perceived injustices, resonating with countries like Iran that share similar geopolitical views.
