The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is contemplating Mirpur, Sylhet, and Chattogram as the proposed venues for the next edition of the Asia Cup. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is seeking detailed information about the facilities before making a final decision. The tournament, expected to be played in the ODI format, is likely to be held during June-July next year, although the ACC has not yet announced the official schedule.
Proposed Venues
Sayeed Ibrahim Ahmed, Chairman of the BCB Security Committee, confirmed that the board has proposed the country's three regular international venues for the continental tournament. "We are considering Mirpur, Chattogram, and Sylhet, which are the usual international venues we have. But again, nothing has been finalized yet. If next year's Asia Cup is held in Bangladesh, the spectators will be able to enjoy the tournament," he said.
ACC's Request for Details
Ahmed revealed that the ACC had contacted the BCB for further information on the proposed venues. "We have been contacted and they want to know more about the three proposed venues. We hope to finalize the matter in the next few days," he added.
Bangladesh's Hosting Hopes
Bangladesh is hoping to host the Asia Cup for the first time in 11 years. Ahmed expressed optimism over the country's chances, stating that the BCB is working to ensure a successful tournament if it is awarded the hosting rights. "We are hopeful that the Asia Cup will come to Bangladesh again after so many years so that we can organize a good tournament for the spectators and everyone who loves the game," he said.
Efforts for a Successful Tournament
Ahmed emphasized the BCB's efforts to ensure a successful tournament. "We are trying our best, and you can probably understand how positive it is by looking at some of our activities. We are trying, now the rest will depend on what happens," he concluded.
