Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today stressed the need for a realistic plan to expand the Family Card programme across the nation in phases. The programme, which aims to provide various benefits to families, requires the best use of modern technology and effective coordination among all relevant ministries and agencies.

The emphasis came during a meeting at the Cabinet Division in the Bangladesh Secretariat. The meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister, reviewed the progress of the Family Card programme and discussed the roadmap for its gradual expansion.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Rahman highlighted the importance of developing an accurate and credible database to ensure that the benefits of the Family Card reach genuine beneficiaries in a transparent and effective manner. He instructed authorities to maintain the highest level of transparency and accountability at every stage of data collection, verification, and beneficiary selection.

The meeting was attended by Social Welfare Minister Abu Zafar Md Zahid Hossain, State Minister Farzana Sharmin, Prime Minister's Adviser Mahdi Amin, Principal Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar, Principal Coordinator for SDG Affairs at the PMO Prof Dr S M Abdul-Awal, Special Secretary of the BNP National Executive Committee Belayet Hossain Mridha, and senior officials from relevant ministries and offices.
