Deputy Speaker Barrister Kayser Kamal today emphasized that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is pursuing a 'Bangladesh First' policy aimed at the country's development. He made the remarks while addressing a views-exchange meeting on Bagerhat's overall development and regional development plan at the Zilla Parishad building in Bagerhat. The meeting, organized by the Bagerhat Officers' Forum, saw participation from government officials, lawmakers, political leaders, professionals, and other distinguished citizens.

Kamal stressed that sustainable development and human resource development require coordinated efforts by the democratically elected government, the administration, and political parties. He noted that the government has prioritized education and healthcare in the national budget to improve access to quality medical and educational services. Additionally, he expressed hope that infrastructure projects, including an airport, improved road connectivity, and employment generation in coastal areas, would open up new opportunities for Bagerhat's development.

The meeting was chaired by Bagerhat Officers' Forum President and former secretary Dr. Md Faridul Islam. State Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Sheikh Faridul Islam, Bagerhat Zilla Parishad Administrator Sheikh Mohammad Zakir Hossain, and District BNP Convener Engineer ATM Akram Hossain Talim attended as special guests. Deputy Commissioner Golam Mohammad Baten, Superintendent of Police Hasan Mohammad Naser Rikabder, and Bagerhat Officers Forum General Secretary Zakir Hossain were also present.

Speaking at the meeting, State Minister Sheikh Faridul Islam highlighted the importance of upgrading the Khulna-Mongla highway, constructing an airport, and building a sustainable WAPDA embankment to combat coastal salinity. He added that establishing a medical university, technical colleges, and information technology-based training centers would create more jobs and reduce people's dependence on the Sundarbans.

Earlier in the day, Deputy Speaker Kaiser Kamal visited the grave of Baruipara Union Krishak Dal President Badal Morol in Bagerhat Sadar and offered condolences to his family. He later attended a separate views-exchange meeting with leaders of the district BNP and its associate organizations at the Bagerhat Circuit House.
