Bangladesh Banks Close for 7 Days Over Eid, May 23 Holiday Canceled

Bangladesh Bank announces extended Eid holidays for scheduled banks from May 25 to May 31.

In observance of Eid-ul-Azha, scheduled banks in Bangladesh will remain closed for seven consecutive days from May 25 to May 31. The Bangladesh Bank issued a notification on May 18, 2026, stating that all branches and sub-branches of scheduled banks will operate normally on the upcoming Saturday and Sunday, May 22 and 23. Following this, banks will remain closed from May 25 to May 31.

Commercial bank branches in Dhaka, Ashulia, Tongi, Gazipur, Savar, Bhaluka, Narayanganj, and Chittagong's garment industry areas will operate on a limited scale on May 25 and 26 to facilitate salary, bonus, and other allowance payments for garment industry workers. These branches will be open from 10 AM to 3 PM, with transactions conducted from 10 AM to 1 PM.
